Planting Tips:
- Location: Plant in full sun to part shade. For the best blooms on your Scarlet Sage and Cardinal Flower, a spot with ample sunlight is ideal. These plants prefer well-drained soil. Note that the Cardinal Flower in this collection is a moisture-loving plant and thrives in moist conditions.
- Watering: Water your plants regularly during the first growing season to help establish deep, healthy roots. Once established, many of these native species require less water and can tolerate occasional dry spells.
- Maintenance: Minimal care required. There's no need to deadhead the flowers, as allowing them to go to seed provides a valuable food source for birds. Leaving the stems standing in the fall offers overwintering sites for beneficial insects. If desired, cut back the stems in late spring after pollinators have emerged.
