Some things to keep in mind:
- Our plants are living things, meant to be outside in fresh air and light. It’s natural for live plants to show minor signs of stress after their time in transit. To help your plants, gently prune any foliage that was damaged during the shipping process, such as yellow or brown leaves. After prompt removal from their packaging along with subsequent planting and care, your plants will perk up and thrive once settled in their new home. Every year, your plants will become more established, needing less water and care and blooming bigger and brighter! For additional support, refer to our planting how-to guide, and visit our Learning Center.
- Time of year and weather play a role in the size of our plants at their time of shipment. A colder spring could mean that the plants we ship in May are slightly smaller than those shipped a couple months later. We will only ship plants that meet our quality standards, including healthy roots, and want you to know that the plant’s size at shipment will not impact how it grows and blooms.
- Due to plant growth cycles and sales trends, we may not have available inventory of the exact plant you need replaced at a given time. If we cannot reship the same plant, we will offer an alternative replacement or give you the option to receive an online credit equal to the amount of your original purchase price to be used on our website.
- It is normal for your new native plants to grow slowly at first in comparison to other plants you may have in your garden such as vegetables. The establishment period for native perennials can take up to one year. During this time, though you may see slow growth above ground, your new plants are developing large and healthy root systems below ground that will help sustain them year after year.
- While many of our plants do develop qualities that make them resistant to deer and other wildlife once mature, young plants in particular can be quite attractive to hungry wildlife and we strongly suggest that all plants be protected with a barrier such as fencing or netting until they are established. We are unable to replace plants that have been damaged due to wildlife activity.
- It's essential to follow the recommended planting, watering, and maintenance instructions for your plants to ensure their success and longevity. Plants should be planted in the ground or a container that is large enough to accommodate their size at maturity within one week of delivery. Our guarantee ensures that you receive healthy plants, but it does not cover damage resulting from failure to follow appropriate plant care guidelines. For any further assistance on proper plant care, please feel free to reach out to our customer care team.
- Because our plants are grown without pesticides, the presence of insects, both beneficial and unwanted, can occur. Our growers inspect the plants thoroughly for insects before shipment, but occasionally a bug may hide and escape their detection. If you find any insects on your plants upon unpacking, please take a photo for our quality control and then remove, wash them off, or dispose of the affected leaf. If the issue persists, contact our customer care team for advice and assistance.
- The appearance of your plant upon delivery may vary from photos on the website due to seasonal changes and natural variations between plants. Some plants naturally change color as part of their seasonal cycle, and those received in late summer or fall may show some leaf deterioration, which is normal. Additionally, plants may be trimmed by our growers to control legginess and ensure healthy growth.
- Plant leaves can show spotting due to many factors such as insect damage, fungal infections, or nutrient imbalances. The presence of spotting on a plant does not necessarily indicate poor health. If you receive a plant from us with unexpected spots, please reach out for help and include a photo of the affected leaves.
- Our guarantee covers only the original plant purchase and does not extend to replacement plants.
