As part of our Premium Pots collection, this 3-gallon Pinxterbloom Azalea (Rhododendron periclymenoides) is a more established native plant, offering an immediate impact in your garden.
The Pinxterbloom Azalea is a dense, suckering native deciduous shrub that is a standout in any landscape. In early spring, before its leaves emerge, it produces an impressive display of showy, funnel-shaped flowers in soft pink, white, or lavender clusters. These fragrant blooms provide an important, early-season nectar source for butterflies and hummingbirds, making this a perfect addition to a pollinator garden.
The shrub's slow growth rate, combined with its tolerance for dry sites and ability to adapt to a range of soil conditions, makes it one of the easier native azaleas to grow. With a noteworthy horizontal branching structure, it adds a unique architectural element to woodland gardens, naturalized areas, and shrub borders.

Planting Tips
- Location: Plant in part shade, which protects the leaves from scorching in the hot afternoon sun.
- Watering: Prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Amend with organic matter if you have heavy clay soil to help with drainage, and plant the root ball high in the soil.
- Maintenance: This plant is low-maintenance, but you can prune it after flowering to maintain its shape if desired. A layer of mulch will help retain moisture and stabilize the soil temperature.
