We are celebrating the incredible biological connection between Mexico and our own backyards. The Monarch butterflies currently arriving in the eastern United States began their journey in the Oyamel fir forests of Mexico. By planting milkweed and nectar sources today, you are providing the essential stopover habitat they need to survive and reproduce.
We have several varieties in this collection to suit different garden types:
Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa): Best for well-drained, sandy soil and full sun. Its vibrant orange flowers are a showstopper.
Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata): Ideal for clay soils or areas that stay moist, such as rain gardens.
Whorled Milkweed (Asclepias verticillata): A great choice for smaller spaces or meadow-style plantings with fine, delicate foliage.
Enter your zip code at the top of the page to filter for milkweed species native to your area.
We coordinate with a network of regional growers to ensure your plants arrive at the ideal time for planting. Shipping schedules in the spring vary by location: many of our growers are now shipping weekly, while others have just begun shipping pre-orders to Hardiness Zone 7 and above now as the risk of frost passes. Review the individual product pages for more details.

Cinco de Mayo
A Cinco de Mayo Celebration of Heritage and Habitat
This Cinco de Mayo, we are celebrating a bond that spans three thousand miles. While we enjoy the spirit of the holiday here in the United States, the Monarch butterflies are currently navigating their way north from their winter sanctuary in the Oyamel fir forests of Mexico.
To honor this incredible shared heritage, we’ve curated a special Cinco de Mayo Collection. This selection features the bold colors and resilient species that define the journey, from the nectar-rich sages of the Southwest to the essential milkweeds that serve as the Monarch’s only nursery.
Collection Highlights:
- Milkweed for Monarchs: A wide variety of Asclepias (Milkweed) to provide a home for the travelers arriving from the south.
- Fiesta Colors: Brilliant reds, whites, and greens featuring Salvia, Achillea, and native grasses that bring a festive palette to your garden.
- High-Energy Fuel: Durable, sun-loving nectar plants like Gaillardia and Monarda designed to thrive in the summer heat.
Shop the flash sale today and plant a garden that honors the spirit of the holiday by supporting the flight that connects us all.
