Sweet Azalea is a deciduous shrub that produces clusters of fragrant white flowers with contrasting red stamens in early summer. With leaves that turn shades of bronze, red, and purple in the fall, it makes a wonderful addition to a shrub border or woodland garden.

Grown non-GMO and free of harmful neonicotinoids just for your area, Sweet Azalea for sun/part-shade will:

  • Add year-round interest to your garden with loosely-branched stems, glossy foliage, fragrant blooms, and fall color.
  • Support other wildlife species including birds, butterflies, moths, and bees.
  • Never need chemicals and require less water once established.

Sweet Azalea has a shallow, fibrous root system and will do best when planted in an area with evenly moist but well-drained conditions and mulched. Sweet Azalea, also known as Rhododendron arborescens (arborescens means "tree-like"), can occasionally grow up to 20’ in height and spread. Be sure to select a planting site that will accommodate its mature size.

Sweet Azalea has the potential to support up to:
• 53 butterfly and moth species
• Dozens of other pollinator species foraging for nectar
• 96% of the backyard birds that rely on larval insects to feed their young

All purchases support National Wildlife Federation’s non-profit mission to help declining wildlife and expand native plant availability nationwide.

Spring shipments will be dormant with only branches and no leaves and healthy one gallon root mass. These shrubs are a good focal point for a wildlife garden. Multiple shrubs can provide a border garden.
