Carolina Rose is a low-growing deciduous shrub that produces showy, fragrant pink flowers that attract butterflies and bright red fruit (hips) that attract birds. It grows in dry-moist, well-drained soils and will flower more abundantly in full sun locations.

Grown non-GMO and free of harmful neonicotinoids just for your area, Carolina Rose for sun/part-shade will:

  • Provide cover and nesting sites for birds.
  • Support other wildlife species including birds, butterflies, moths, and bees.
  • Never need chemicals and require less water once established.

The stems of Carolina Rose are covered in prickles; wearing gloves is recommended when planting.

Please note: When ordering in fall, the shrubs you receive might arrive with few leaves or leaves that have turned red or brown. Rest assured, these are healthy plants and should still be planted now before the ground freezes. Cooler fall temperatures give shrubs time to adapt to their new location and establish larger root systems that lead to beautiful, full blooms in spring and summer.

Carolina Rose has the potential to support up to:
• 105 butterfly and moth species
• Dozens of other pollinator species foraging for nectar
• 96% of the backyard birds that rely on larval insects to feed their young

All purchases support National Wildlife Federation’s non-profit mission to help declining wildlife and expand native plant availability nationwide.

Our plants are grown regionally to thrive where you live and help local wildlife. Confirm availability for your area using the zip code checker near the add to cart button above.

Sizing: This shrub ships in one gallon container with established root mass. In the fall, branches will be 24” to 32” tall with leaves. Spring shipments will be dormant with only branches and no leaves and a healthy one gallon root mass. These shrubs are a good focal point for a wildlife garden. Multiple shrubs can provide a border garden.
