The beautiful, colorful blooms of the flowers in our Summer Songbird collection turn into seed heads in the fall that attract and serve songbirds. This collection includes six native perennial plants for sun/part-shade:
• Blue Wood Aster (2)
• Purple Coneflower (2)
• Oxeye Sunflower (2)
Grown non-GMO and free of harmful neonicotinoids, these plants:
• Support other wildlife species including birds, butterflies, moths, and bees
• Bloom across three seasons and return each year
• Never need chemicals and require less water once established
• Are deer resistant, once established

Finches, Cardinals, Grosbeaks, Chickadees, Tanagers, and many other birds all enjoy the seeds from flowers in this collection.

This collection of native plants also has the potential to support up to:
• 44 pollen specialist bees, including the long-horned bee, Melissodes trinodis
• 104 butterfly/moth species
• Dozens of other pollinator species foraging for nectar
• 96% of the backyard birds that rely on larval insects to feed their young

All purchases support National Wildlife Federation’s non-profit mission to help declining wildlife and expand native plant availability nationwide.

Great plants, but get rid of all the plastic packaging

The plants are healthy, good-sized specimens. I was very disappointed, however, that they were packaged in so much plastic that is difficult to recycle in my area. Please find a more environmentally friendly packing material.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We are so glad to hear that your plants arrived healthy. We share your concern about plastic in the environment and have been actively searching for a replacement for our recycled plastic shipping materials that will sufficiently protect the plants in transit and ensure that the soil is kept moist enough to maintain plant health. As soon as we are able to change to a more eco-friendly alternative, we are committed to make that change.

Packaging

I have only watched the video and am wondering if the packaging is sustainable to our planet. Or is there another step NWF can look into to become more sustainable. There is mushroom packaging + compostable packaging, to name a few.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are currently looking for alternatives to our recycled plastic packaging that can meet our standards for keeping the plants safe and healthy in transit. We hope to have something more earth friendly soon!
